History

Chippenham Agility Club was formed in 1991 by a group of experienced agility handlers who wanted to be part of a democratically run club which would be Kennel Club Registered. The aim of the club was to prepare handlers and dogs for competition and to promote a friendly and helpful atmosphere. In April 1992 we had gained Kennel Club Registration and were entitled to enter our first Crufts qualifier event. By June 1992 we had applied for a licence to run our first show, which was held in September.

By 1994 we had a waiting list for new members and in 1995 Chippenham Agility Club competed in the Crufts Team final for the first time. We returned there in 1996 and 1997, and again in 1999 when we were delighted to come second. Since then we have had other teams also qualify to compete in this event at Crufts.

Current members range from the very young up to the young at heart! We have members who have been successful in winning up through the grades from Grade 1 to the highest Championship level, Grade 7. Some of whom have competed successfully in many major finals, including Olympia and Crufts. In recent years we have had a number of members successfully qualify for a number of ‘finals’ at national level
